About
Technology.
Music.
Both.
Three decades shaping enterprise technology. Ten years embedded in the music industry. Auckland, New Zealand. Working internationally.
"The work only matters if it serves the people using it."
That principle has guided thirty years in technology and ten in music. The tools change. The platforms evolve. But whether I'm designing network infrastructure or building a recording studio, the question is always the same: does this actually solve the problem?
IT & Technology
30 Years
My technology career spans three decades, from the ground floor of networked computing through to CIO-level leadership. I've led infrastructure builds, managed large-scale web projects, overseen vendor relationships, built and mentored teams, and carried responsibility for systems that organisations depend on daily.
I've worked across industries, bringing a breadth of context that purely vertical careers rarely develop. The common thread: understanding what a technology decision actually means for the people on the other end of it, and being willing to make the call.
CIO-level strategy and delivery. Managing teams, budgets, and stakeholder relationships at executive level.
Network design, server environments, and operational infrastructure built to last and scaled to grow.
End-to-end web project delivery: scoping and architecture through to launch and ongoing operation.
Vendor management, procurement, project governance, and the human side of making organisations work.
Music Industry
10+ Years
The music side didn't come after the technology career. It grew alongside it. I've produced and performed my own music, mixed live events and theatre productions, and built recording studios from the ground up.
Over time I became a specialist in Dolby Atmos immersive audio, with releases on Apple Music and an approach focused on translation: music that sounds right everywhere it's heard, not just in the studio. Along the way I've developed apps and tools for the music industry.
Producer, composer, and performing artist with a full-stack perspective from making music from scratch.
Live sound for concerts and theatre productions. High-stakes, real-time work that sharpens every other skill.
Multiple Apple Music releases. Translation-first philosophy, built for headphones.
Designed and built recording studios from concept through acoustic treatment, equipment, and commissioning.
Where the Two Meet
Running both careers in parallel wasn't accidental. Technology and music solve the same class of problem: you have a goal, constraints, human beings with needs, and tools that can serve or obstruct the work depending on how you use them.
The music work made me a better technology leader, more attuned to how systems feel to people inside them. The technology work made me a better producer: more disciplined, more systematic, less precious about killing what isn't working.
